So what can you get up to – just by being at The Old Deanery? We have dedicated play areas for the kids, including a mini-soccer pitch and playhouse. Why not have a picnic on our extensive grounds, enjoying the privacy and beauty of our gardens? Feel free to bring your own outdoor games or borrow one of ours: croquet and wooden skittles. Fire up our outdoor barbecue, enjoy just relaxing on our sun chairs in the courtyard (a lovely sun-trap) and reading a book for the afternoon, followed by a short stroll into the village for a pint at the local pub. So there is no reason to get in the car at all during your stay with us, but if you do – the options for entertainment and activities are endless!

Morriscastle Beach

Long regarded as one of Irelands best beaches on the East coast, Morriscastle Beach was awarded its Blue Flag in 2008. It is the longest single stretch of beach in Europe and runs for 20 kilometres stretching from Curracloe to Cahore Point in County Wexford. Morriscastle beach is also well known for its Bass fishing from the shore, with large numbers of beach fishers visiting every year. Life-guards work for the summer months of June, July and August. It is considered a safe beach for swimming with very fine sand and beautiful dunes for the kids to enjoy.

This 13th Century Hook Lighthouse, named “The World Flashiest” by The Lonely Planet Guide, is about 800 years old and is the oldest intact operational Lighthouse in the world. Hook Lighthouse offers guided tours of the lighthouse tower all year round and is one of the top things to do Wexford and Waterford. Climb the 115 steps to the spectacular view from the balcony where you can spot seals, dolphins and even whales. You can also take in the gift shop and cafe and art exhibits. Art workshops for adults and children are held at the Lighthouse all year round.

JFK Arboretum
